Virgin Islands' Child Care and Development Fund Quality Infant/Toddler Earmark:

FY 2006: The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Earmark is $88,848.

The funds are used in the following ways to enhance the Virgin Islands' infant and toddler child care system (additional funds may be used to support these activities):

  • Scholarships for the Inclusive Early Childhood Certificate program at the University of the Virgin Islands
  • Training on specific child health and safety issues
  • Monitoring of all licensed and registered centers (provided by the CCDF program in conjunction with the Office of Regulatory Services)
  • Mini-grants to assist child care centers in meeting the Territory's licensing and regulatory requirements
  • Consumer education workshops and media announcements to educate parents on the critical issue of quality child care
  • Coordination of activities for child care health consultants.
