Vermont's Child Care and Development Fund Quality Infant/Toddler Targeted Fund:

FY: 2008: The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Targeted Funds allocation is $141,335.

FY: 2006: The Federal CCDF Infant and Toddler Targeted Funds allocation was $144,348.

According to the 2007-2009 CCDF State Plans, the funds are used in the following ways to enhance the Vermont infant and toddler child care system (additional funds may be used to support these activities):

  • Continued support of higher reimbursement rate for infant/toddler care and bonuses, at 17.5% for accredited programs and family child care providers with a CDA or a bonus that can range from 4 to 20% for providers participating in the STARS program (depending on the number of STARS awarded).
  • Continued support of Contracts/grants for infant/toddler care that require providers to be accredited or participating in the STARS program, participate in a child care network, maintain individual professional development plans, and have a business plan. The contract/grant reimburses at a higher level to assure professional development opportunities and adequate compensation.
  • Continued support of Expansion/enhancement grants given annually to providers to support the purchase of equipment and training opportunities for regulated providers.
  • Continued support of Accommodation grants to assure infants and toddlers with special needs have access toappropriate care (using several funding sources).
  • Exploration of the development of an Infant/Toddler Credential in conjunction with the Northern Lights Career Development Center.
