Kentucky's Child Care and Development Fund Quality Infant/Toddler Targeted Fund:
FY: 2008: The Federal CCDF Quality Infant and Toddler Targeted Funds allocation is $1,718,943.
FY: 2006: The Federal CCDF Infant and Toddler Targeted Funds allocation was $1,736,595.
According to the 2007-2009 CCDF State Plans, the funds are used in the following ways to enhance the Kentucky infant and toddler child care system (additional funds may be used to support these activities):
- STARS Quality Coordinators, who function in part as Infant/Toddler Specialists, to serve providers and programs participating in STARS for KIDS NOW (voluntary quality rating system). These Coordinators also work with other CCR&R staff to expand and enhance infant toddler training opportunities offered (including ITERS observation and technical assistance) through CCR&R agencies for those not participating in the STARS program.
- Home and Center Visits that provide technical assistance to programs.
- Professional Development to enhance and expand Infant/Toddler specific training , provided through state CCR&Rs.
- Local CCR&Rs have the option to develop or purchase consumer education materials to help parents make informed choices for quality care options.
